Water Crises Around the World

Demand for fresh water is soaring. Supply, however, is becoming unpredictable. A possible water shortage lies ahead if new and existing water supply expansion technologies are not implemented soon.

Growing populations need water for hygiene, sanitation, food production and industry. At the same time, climate change is contributing to droughts in many regions.

Existing low-tech approaches can help prevent scarcity. Also needed are ways to boost supplies. Desalinating water is one such  method.

Investment in water conservation infrastructure needs immediate attention!

Today, one out of six people, more than a billion in total, suffer from inadequate access to safe water. According to the United Nations, water resources around the globe will be in short supply by 2025.

The minimum amount of water each person requires for drinking, hygiene and growing food is 1,000 cubic meters per year -- equivalent to two fifth of an Olympic-size swimming pool.

Lack of access to water can lead to starvation, disease, political instability and even armed conflict. Grave consequences await if immediate action is not taken.
